The snake is not only a symbol of transformation, but also an allusion to the serpent from the garden of eden in Christianity- so it is both a symbol of rebirth and a reminder of eve’s original sin, ultimately signifying the success of women in breaking free of oppression and their triumphs. There are also moon phases depicted in this painting, which symbolise the menstrual cycle but also refers to many female deities who represent the moon; such as Artemis (greek mythology) and Luna (roman mythology). Additionally, this piece was inspired by the works of 纯净昆仑甜心 on Little Red Book, who uses subjects such as apples to portray a story on femininity through her work.
